NEW TO HOCKEY PROGRAMS

Learn to Play

The St. Albert Minor Hockey Assocation Learn to Play program is designed for players under the age of 12 who are new to hockey. We aim to introduce hockey to players and their families to support their ongoing participation in the sport. We want to ensure all players have a memorable and fun experience on the ice.

This 10-week program is led by certified instructors and will maintain a ratio of 1 coach for every four players. The program typically runs from November to February.

Players can anticipate being grouped with players of similar age and, each week, will participate in a 45-minute session.

Participants require full hockey gear to participate in this program.

Registration opens on July 4th.

ST. ALBERT MINOR HOCKEY PROGRAMS

Elite Hockey

The St. Albert Raiders Hockey Club provides Elite stream hockey (AA & AAA) for St. Albert Minor Hockey Association players within the defined boundaries of Hockey Alberta. Players in this stream of play are selected by coaches through a tryout process and play for the St. Albert Raiders.

The Vision of the St. Albert Raiders Hockey Club is to be recognized as an elite, progressive and successful hockey club, pre-eminent in Alberta for its successful and competitive teams and for providing a positive hockey experience for all participants.

Community Hockey

Players in the St. Albert Minor Hockey Association Tiered Hockey (STA) program are placed on teams with players of similar skill and ability. STA teams travel throughout the Edmonton area to play approximately 18-20 game season. St. Albert Minor Hockey Association is a member of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL) and follows the playing rules outlined by the EFHL.

In addition to this, teams have regular weekly practices. There may be additional costs associated with this stream of hockey.

Recreation Hockey

SAMHA remains committed to offering a Recreational Hockey option through the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL) for players in U11, U13, U15, and U18. This league provides participants with a less structured program with 1-2 initial meet-and-greet practices and 18 games during the season. The focus is on participation, fun and meeting new people. It is a non-body-checking alternative to the current community hockey stream.

Registration opens on July 4th.
