INTRO TO HOCKEY

Players at this age are taking their early strides in the game. Our focus is to ensure this is a positive experience and a place to form friendships and develop hockey skills through fun and fair play.

The goals and objectives of the Intro to Hockey (U5, U7 & U9) programming are to:
  • Teach the basic skills of hockey so players can enjoy the game.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of physical literacy and basic motor patterns.
  • Encourage the aspects of fitness, fair play, and cooperation while having fun while playing the game.

The Intro to Hockey program is for players who live within our Hockey Alberta boundary (St. Albert and Sturgeon). Learn more...

This program runs from September to February and requires a greater time commitment than the Learn to Play program.

Community Hockey (U11-U18).

LEARN TO PLAY

The St. Albert Minor Hockey Association Learn to Play program is designed for new hockey players under the age of 12.

We aim to introduce hockey to players and their families to support their ongoing participation in the sport and ensure all players have a memorable and fun experience on the ice.

Certified instructors lead this 10-week program and will maintain a ratio of 1 coach for every four players. The program runs from late November to early February.

Players can anticipate being grouped with players of similar age and, each week, will participate in a 45-minute session.

Participants require full hockey gear to participate in this program.
