Female hockey

Alberta currently has close to 8,000 females participating in hockey and female hockey is currently one of the fastest-growing sports in the province.
Whether your daughter is just starting out or has been playing for a number of years - there are a number of great opportunities for her to become involved in female hockey.
REGISTRATION
SAMHA is excited to offer female hockey programs for players aged 8 to 18 in our U9 to U18 divisions.
Players can anticipate playing on all-female teams, and in most divisions, players will compete against other female teams.
Female players who reside within the Hockey Albert boundary map are eligible to register for St. Albert Minor Hockey female hockey programs starting May 1st.
For more information about the St. Albert Minor Hockey female program, please contact our Female Director, Lisa Magera.
Female players who would like to play with St. Albert Minor Hockey Association but do not reside within the defined boundary, please contact your home association.
Female players who are not members of the St. Albert Minor Hockey Association must obtain written confirmation from their home association in the form of a Minor Hockey Player Movement Form. The signed Player Movement Form must be sent to registrar@samha.ca.
Players must then complete the Female Non-Resident pre-registration form. There is a $200 fee to pre-register; this fee will be credited towards your full registration fees. This option is available until July 15th.
After July 15, female program registration numbers will be assessed, and players will be contacted to confirm if they can move forward with their full registration. If you do not move forward with full registration, the $200 pre-registration fee will be refunded.
If St. Albert Minor Hockey programs are at capacity, players will have the option to register elsewhere.
Priority registration will be given to players who have previously played with St. Albert Minor Hockey Association, the player's proximity to other associations with female programs, and the date stamp of the pre-registration form.
Only applicable to U9 and below or siblings. We will do our best to make accommodations for players and their families; however, we are unable to guarantee that we can fulfill all requests.
Please note the request must be reciprocated by the other family to be considered.
SAMHA relies on dedicated volunteer coaches to guide players through their time in hockey.
We are committed to removing barriers for coaches and providing a supportive environment for coaches who want to become involved.
To volunteer, please complete our Coach Intake form.
If you are interested in volunteering as a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach, please complete the Coach Intake form as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued commitment, and we look forward to seeing you at the rink soon.
If you have any questions contact our Female Director.
